Spotlight on Excellence: Meet Our 4th Next Gen Rising Award Recipient

Next Gen Rising Alaysia Clark

Windsor, NC — Bertie County Public Schools is proud to recognize Alaysia Clark for her outstanding leadership, character, and commitment to making a positive difference in her school community.

Alaysia stands out not only for her strong academic performance, but also for the way she carries herself each day. She consistently demonstrates positive behavior, respect for others, and steady social and academic growth. Alaysia leads by example, and her actions speak just as loudly as her achievements.

What truly sets Alaysia apart is her initiative and vision for improving her school community. Recognizing an opportunity to bring students together in a meaningful way, Alaysia took the lead by writing a formal proposal to her principal to create a school dance team. In her letter, she clearly outlined expectations for participants and described how the team could benefit both the school and the wider community.

Because of her thoughtful planning and follow-through, her idea has now become a reality.

The Blue Diamonds 2.0 (Polar Bears Dance Team) is officially underway, with students preparing to perform at basketball halftime events and participate in community activities. The team promotes wellness, encourages involvement beyond the classroom, and inspires other students to step into leadership roles.

Alaysia’s initiative is a powerful reminder that leadership is not about waiting for change — it is about recognizing a need and stepping forward with confidence, purpose, and determination.

Bertie County Public Schools is proud to celebrate Alaysia Clark as a shining example of student leadership and excellence in action.
