BCS Welcomes new Central Office Staff, names new Administrators for 2020-2021
Mrs. Natasha Stephenson is the new Principal of Aulander Elementary School. She is from Kelford and has lived there all her life. Mrs. Stephenson holds a B.A. from Elizabeth City State University and Master of School Administration from Cambridge College. She has served as an elementary teacher (grades 3, 4, and 5) for the majority of her educational career, as well as an assistant principal for Windsor Elementary, West Bertie Elementary, and Bertie High schools. Mrs. Stephenson has been named Teacher of the Year on two separate occasions, and she has 22 years in education—all in Bertie County.
Mrs. Clara Lee has been named Principal of the Bertie Early College High School. She is a Colerain native and has lived in Ahoskie now for the past 26 years. Mrs. Lee holds Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Shaw University. She also earned a K-6 teaching certification from Elizabeth City State University and a Master’s Degree in Administration from Cambridge University. She is entering her 21st year in working in the education field—all of which has been in Bertie County. Mrs. Lee has 12 years of experience as a principal.
Mrs. Linda Bulluck has been named Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction for Bertie County Schools. She is from Enfield, NC and currently resides in Rocky Mount. Mrs. Bulluck holds a B.A in English Education and a Master of Library Science degree, both from N.C. Central University in Durham. She also earned a Master of School Administration degree from ECU as well as an Education Specialist degree in Education Leadership from Northcentral University of Arizona. Mrs. Bulluck is currently working on her Doctorate degree in Education Leadership. She has experience—mostly from Halifax County Schools—in teaching high school English II and III, middles grades ELA and social studies, Media Coordinator, Assistant Principal, Principal and District Director of Secondary Education and Human Resources. Mrs. Bulluck has previously served BCS for two years as the Director of Curriculum and Instruction (High School), and she has 27 years of experience in education.
Mrs. Wendee Todd of Windsor has been named Director of Testing and Accountability. Mrs. Todd is originally from Chesapeake, Va. She holds a B.S. in Elementary Education from Mid-Atlantic Christian University and a Master of Science degree from Old Dominion University in Library Science. Mrs. Todd began her career in education in Chesapeake Public Schools as a Computer Lab Paraprofessional, and then taught first and second grades in the classroom there. She later moved to Dare County where she taught third grade and served as a Media Coordinator. Most recently, she has served as a Media Coordinator for Colerain Elementary School, with nine years of experience in Bertie County and 20 years total in education.
Bertie County native Mrs. Wanda Cofield has been named CTE Director for Bertie County Schools. She holds a B.S. degree from Elizabeth City State University and a Master’s of School Administration degree from the University of Phoenix. Mrs. Cofield has taught middle grades math, served as interim principal of Bertie Early College High School, held a stint as CTE Director for BCS and then, most recently, served several years as principal of Bertie Early College High School. She returns to the helm of CTE, with a total of 23 years under her belt in education.
Mrs. Janice Ricks has been named the Instructional Technology Facilitator for the district. She is from Aulander and resides in Hertford County. Mrs. Ricks earned her B.A. in History from Elizabeth City State University. She earned a Juris Doctorate degree from North Carolina Central University School of Law as well as a Master’s degree in School Administration from ECSU. She has experience as a social studies teacher, adjunct professor and Instructional Technology Facilitator for Bertie Early College High School prior to coming to Central Services. Mrs. Ricks has 20 years of experience in education—fifteen of which are in Bertie County.
