Bertie Early College High School holds graduation ... Covid-19 style!
Bertie Early College Class of 2020’s “Graduation by Appointment”
Due to the threat of inclement weather, the original drive-up graduation plan for Bertie Early College High School seniors was scrapped and replaced with “Plan B.” The alternate plan consisted of private ceremonies inside the school media center for each grad on Friday, May 29th. Students graduated “by appointment” beginning at 9 a.m. and lasting all day, with Principal Wanda Cofield, Superintendent Dr. Otis L. Smallwood, and several School Board Members on hand. Students were allowed up to five guests in the media center with them, and social distancing rules were obeyed in the hallways and outside the building. BECHS staff cheered each graduate as he/she entered and exited the school for the last time.
