Thursday afternoon, 4th and 5th grade students at Windsor Elementary School welcomed a special guest and motivational speaker, retired Cleveland Browns NFL football player Willie Green. He captivated the audience with a message of the importance of empathy, effort, education and excellence in making the right choices in life. He demonstrated pushing for little dreams, medium-sized dreams and big dreams—with an emphasis on pushing and perseverance. (Check out his push-ups!) Green told students to fight the urge to say, “It’s too hard,” and “It’s too difficult.” And in his words, “We all have greatness inside. You don’t have to be great to start; you have to start to be great!” There are dream makers and dream takers; don’t let anyone be a dream taker from YOU. A special thank you goes out to Pastor Jay Rivenbark and the Open Door Church ministries from the Bertie and Edenton campuses for making Mr. Green’s visit possible!
