Every day matters—in school and in life! And Dr. Smallwood has taken action to have the importance of daily attendance emphasized to every student during the month of September, which has been proclaimed as Attendance Awareness Month.
Dr. Patrick Miller, of Greene County Schools, is the 2019 A. Craig Phillips Superintendent of the Year. In his working with the NC Early Childhood Foundation, one of his priorities is engaging more communities across the state on the importance of attending school every day.
Dr. Miller reached out to every Superintendent in the state for support, and our Dr. Smallwood was among the first to get on board and sign the “Proclamation of September as Attendance Awareness Month.”
