2019 Spoken Word Contest

MLK Jr.  Spoken Word Contest

To honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and raise awareness about his accomplishments, Bertie Early College High School is sponsoring a spoken word video contest. Bertie Early College High School students are invited to submit a 45-60-second video that conveys the contest theme. The top individual and top group video will win.

 

The theme for the 2019 Spoken Word contest:

"A Purposeful Life"  

 

Deadline

Entries must be submitted using the online form no later than January 31, 2019

Criteria

Videos will be judged based on the following criteria:

  • Content clarity – does the video clearly address the contest theme,

  • "A Purposeful Life”

  • Memorable/interesting – how well does the video draw in the listener and keep their attention?

  • Creativity – is the video original and something not seen before?

  • Production – the overall quality of production

  • No Profanity

 

Judging

Judging will be done by the Staff and Principal at BECHS

 

Awards

Overall Best Individual - $50

Overall Best Group       - $50
