Celebration of Women in Mathematics

On Tuesday, October 16, 2018, twenty-one female students, ranging from freshmen to seniors, from BERTIE EARLY COLLEGE HIGH SCHOOL participated in the 23rd Annual Celebration of Women in Mathematics at Elizabeth City State University.
Students participated in two workshop sessions on Cryptography and Tessellations. The team WON FIRST PLACE in the Math Sprint Competition. This is where a team of five students has 50 minutes to work together to solve 20 problems.
Mrs. Tammy Jernigan, a math teacher at BECHS and the team sponsor, WON FIRST PLACE in the teacher obstacle course.
The team of students safely returned to BECHS with a tall pink 1st Place trophy as well as Mrs. Jernigan with her shiny green FIRST PLACE trophy for her win.
Bertie Early College High School Family proudly congratulates them all!
