Bertie High School offers welding to students through a partnership with Martin Community College (MCC). Classes are taught in a fully equipped shop located on the campus of the BCS Central Services Complex. The MCC instructor, Jarvis Parker, comes to the BHS campus to deliver face-to-face instruction.
Mr. Parker is a 1977 graduate of Bertie High School and joins us with years of welding experience as he has worked as a welder at the Newport News Shipbuilding as well as being a CTE teacher in another school district where he once taught Welding as well as Career Management.
Welding courses are College & Career Promise (CCP) courses therefore students will receive high school and college credits. Upon completion of the program, students will earn an Industrial Systems - Welding Technology Certificate from Martin Community College.
