5th Grade Travel to Sound to Sea

The fifth grade at Windsor Elementary travel to Salter Path, North Carolina locate on the Bogue Island. Students explored the sound and the salt marsh as they learned the concepts of the nursery of the ocean. They also had the opportunity to visit the beach and learn about the formation of the Barrier Island as well as erosion. Students are taught this curriculum during the science class under Mrs. Terri Cheatham, this trip brought the class to life. Students saw the sound, the salt marsh, freshwater ponds, maritime forest, and experienced firsthand beach habitats.  This type of trip had a tremendous impact on some of our students not only did it bring the class to life but it was the first time some of them had ever experience it.
