Greetings Bertie Early College Families!
Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year! We are thrilled to welcome our students and staff back
to school. We hope that you were able to relax and make special memories with your families
and friends. I am especially excited about being the new principal of Bertie Early College! I have
heard about the many great accomplishments this school has had over the years and now I can be
a part of the legacy moving forward. We were voted as one of America’s Top High Schools by
USA Today! It’s that special! Who said that nothing good could come from Bertie County?
Our illustrious staff of educators is here to make every student’s experience one to cherish for
years to come. They are preparing their classrooms and planning lessons for the new school year.
Our custodian has been working hard with maintenance to get our new building up to par. Our
support staff, Mrs. Wanda Dempsey-Jacobs, Mrs. Latonja Joyner-Hyman, and Ms. Sharon Tann
have been working hard to ensure a smooth start for staff, students, and families.
Bertie Early College is a special place to learn and grow. We are proud of our school and we
have high expectations for each and every student. Our students are kind, compassionate, and
eager to learn. Together with our dedicated staff, we strive to make connections with students to
help them feel valued, accepted, and most importantly, safe. Our mission is to motivate, educate,
and empower students through rigorous and engaging educational experiences that will foster
lifelong learning.We hope to partner with families and community organizations to help build a closer
relationship. The success of our school can only be enhanced with all stakeholders sharing the
same mission and vision for the students of Bertie Early College. We are encouraging families to
stay connected and informed by following our district and school website, as well as, our
messages sent by blackboard connect.Once again, I welcome you back to the 2022-2023 school year and all the heights of
