Dr. Jonathan D. Matthew

I am the 7th-grade Assistant Principal. I am originally from Fayetteville and currently reside in Jacksonville, NC. I enjoy spending time playing cards, board, and video games. I also enjoy spending time with my wife and three children, hiking, canoeing, and going to the beach and the mountains. My favorite color is orange, and his favorite animal is the silverback gorilla. I love to drink Celsius and eat carrot cake. My favorite movie is “The Five Heartbeats” and he enjoys watching “First Take” on television. I love the fall and winter seasons, so he can watch football and read his favorite book, “Of Mice and Men” during the Christmas break. I hope to visit Puerto Rico one day. 

I have a Bachelor’s in Music Education from East Carolina University, a Master’s in School Administration from East Carolina University, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Liberty University. I have taught school for 11 years in NC in Onslow, Craven, and Pitt counties and have been an administrator for seven years in Pender and Bertie counties.

Mrs. Tequilla Taylor

I am the 6th-grade assistant principal at BMS and am from Greene County, NC. I enjoy listening to music and reading, especially the book, “Paint Me Like I Am.” My favorite color is blue, and the animals are cats. I enjoy drinking Ginger Ale, eating sushi, and tuxedo cake. I love the movie “Elemental” and love to watch the “Jamie Foxx Show” on television. My favorite subject is English Language Arts, and I love fall, football, and Thanksgiving. I hope to one day visit the Bahamas or Jamaica. 

I attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and East Carolina University, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. I also received my Masters' in School Administration from Barton College.  

I have taught in grades Pre-K through 12 and have experience teaching EC K-12 and ELA grades 6-11. I have taught at elementary, middle, high school, and early college levels. I was a teacher of the year nominee in Pitt and Wilson County. Schools. This is my second year as an assistant principal.

Ms. Jennifer Cherry

Hello, I am the 8th Grade Assistant Principal Intern for Bertie Middle School. I love to read and cook, drink coffee (hot or cold), and eat seafood, cheesecake, and chocolate chip cookies. My favorites include the color purple, fall, and Christmas. 

I have a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science with a Minor in Business from Elizabeth City State University and Masters in Computer Science and Network Management from Strayer University. I have been the CTE Business Teacher at Bertie High School and am now the Assistant Principal here at BMS.
