Character Education Traits for the School Year
Each month, Bertie County Schools recognizes a student from each school in Bertie County who exemplifies the character trait of the month. The identified students are recognized at the board meeting following the specific month.
(Sept) Self-discipline - Demonstrating hard work and commitment to purpose; and being in proper control of your words, actions, impulses and desires.
(Oct) Respect - Showing high regard for authority, for other people, or self, for property and for country; and understanding that all people have value as human beings
(Nov) Responsibility - Being dependable with carrying out duties; being reliable and consistent in words and conduct; being accountable for your own actions; and being committed to community involvement.
(Dec) Honesty - Having the ability to be truthful.
(Jan) Citizenship - Do your share to make your school and community better; cooperate with others and get involved in community affairs.
(Feb) Courage - Having the determination to do the right thing even when others don’t; follow your conscience rather than the crowd; and attempting difficult things that are worthwhile.
(Mar) Good Judgment - Choosing worthy goals and setting proper priorities; thinking through the consequences before choosing to take action.
(Apr) Perseverance - continued effort to do or achieve something despite difficulties, failure, opposition or discouragement.
Each month, Bertie County Schools recognizes a student who has shown exceptional performance.
