2025-2026 NC Pre-K Application

Who is eligible for NC Pre-K?

Children who will be four years old on or before August 31, 2025, for the school year 2025-26. Slots are limited; first come, first serve. 

Before you begin the application process...

It is recommended that you have all the required information and documentation prepared BEFORE you begin the application process. Once you have the documentation needed to apply, it is easiest to complete the online application using a computer or your smartphone. 

What You Will Need:

1. Copy of Child's Certified Birth Certificate or Birth Registration Card
2. Documentation of Bertie County Residency (Submit one (1) of the following: Utility bill {water, electric, or gas}, Lease Agreement, Rental Receipt, County Tax Receipt, or Mortgage Statement)
3. Proof of Income ( Submit one (1) of the following: 4 consecutive pay stubs; Earnings Statement Form; 2024 IRS 1040,  unemployment/social security benefits letter, or copies of all W-2s from 2024)
4. Optional Documentation (If applicable, Copy of child's Individualized Education Plan (IEP); Documentation of parent's military service; Chronic Illness - child's health assessment;  or Copy of current educational/developmental screenings or evaluations indicating the child's developmental or educational need. 

There is no charge for any of the NC Pre-K sites. The program is funded through NC Pre-K state funds. 

Bertie County Schools can provide transportation for students depending on location within the school district. As transportation may be offered, it is not guaranteed for Pre-K students. Bertie County Schools NC Pre-K School Sites do not provide wraparound/after-school care.
